CalcAI — First-Time Setup
Follow these steps to unlock, launch, connect Wi‑Fi, and start using CalcAI. Keep your calculator steady for camera autofocus.
Power and batteries
For best results we recommend high-quality AAA lithium batteries (triple‑A). They last longer than standard alkaline cells and handle the higher power draw from the camera and Wi‑Fi modules.
- Use fresh AAA lithium cells for longest runtime.
- Camera autofocus and uploads can cause short power spikes; lithium chemistry stays more stable under load.
- Optional: keep a spare set in your bag. High‑capacity NiMH rechargeables also work, but may need more frequent charging.
1) Unlock it
A) Enter the password value
- On the Home screen, insert the letter P: press ALPHA, then press the key that has P in green (you should see a green P on screen).

3) Open CALCAI
- Press PRGM.
- Select CALCAI → press ENTER to open it.
- You’re now in the CALCAI menu. (Most features need Wi‑Fi—set that up next.)
4) Connect with CalcAI Link
- Open CalcAI Link on your iPhone or iPad and sign in.
- Open Bluetooth setup on the calculator. Keep it nearby and tap Scan in the app.
- Enter the six-digit code shown on your calculator.
- Select your Wi-Fi network, enter its password and connect. For a phone hotspot, enable Phone hotspot for that network.
- After Device paired appears, press Home page. Review the AI-sharing choice before enabling AI answers.
With AI sharing off, pairing and Wi-Fi management still work, but AI answers and photo solving are unavailable. You can change this choice in Settings.
To change networks later, open Edit network on Home. When leaving, choose whether to keep the Bluetooth portal open or close it. After closing it, press CLEAR on the calculator to exit.
Keep Bluetooth setup open while the app is configuring Wi-Fi. The calculator should leave Wi-Fi mode after setup finishes.
Older configuration-portal setup
If your firmware uses the older Configuration option, open Settings → Configuration on the calculator, join calcai-config on your phone (password: configue), and follow its local page. Close that portal from its page when finished. These steps are separate from the CalcAI Link Bluetooth flow above.
Camera
- After you press ENTER to capture, you’ll see “hold still”—that’s autofocus working. Keep the calculator steady.
- Image quality drops in low light. Use bright, even lighting and avoid glare for best results.
Updates
- On the calculator: open Settings → Update to check for and install firmware updates.
- During update, the TI‑84 shows Updating…. The ESP will reboot when finished.
- After reboot, the ESP automatically re‑sends the CalcAI launcher back to your calculator.
- We announce new firmware and features in our Discord. Join to get notified.
Privacy & deletion
- History: select your calculator, open History, tap the trash icon, then confirm Clear. This removes history entries and the photos they reference.
- Account: open Settings → Delete Account and confirm. This removes the account, linked-device data and photos indexed to the account through the deletion process. Separate commerce, support, backup or provider records and older unindexed photos can remain; see the Privacy Policy.
- Notes and context: clear or replace these separately. Clearing history does not clear them.
- API keys: remove a saved key in Settings to delete CalcAI’s copy. Disabling retains it and may allow requests using CalcAI’s key. Revoke keys separately with the provider.
- AI permission: turn AI sharing off in Settings to prevent new AI requests. Pairing and Wi-Fi management remain available. Turning AI off cannot undo past provider disclosures.
- Apple: account deletion revokes stored Apple sign-in authorization. You may be asked to sign in with Apple again. Separately stopping Sign in with Apple in your Apple Account settings does not delete your CalcAI account.
For remaining photos, deletion failures, or account access problems, email our monitored inbox at info@calcai.cc. Include your account email and request; never include passwords, full API keys, or card details. We may verify ownership. See the Privacy Policy for retention limits.
Debugging / Support
- If you encounter a problem you can’t solve: Open Settings → Configuration to start the portal.
- In the portal, open Debug.
- Copy or download your Logs and your MAC address.
- Email info@calcai.cc with a description of the problem. Review logs before sending them; remove passwords, API keys, and unrelated personal content.
